CLASSES

What is Barre?

Combining elements of ballet, pilates, yoga, and strength training, Barre is a low-impact, high-intensity workout that will leave you feeling stronger, fitter and refreshed. The combination of barre beats and energetic moves sneakily builds your fitness and stamina while you are having fun! Focusing on work at the ballet barre, and combining props and mat work, a barre class is an addictive form of movement that can be tailored to your needs.

What should I expect in a barre class?

Expect to have fun, build your fitness and challenge your body. Classes typically include a warm-up, followed by a series of exercises at the barre and on the mat targeting different muscle groups, finishing with stretching and cool-down. It is a high-energy workout combined with the control of ballet practice – making sure you move in a challenging way without compromising on technique or safety.

Do I need any dance experience to take a barre class?

No dance experience is required. Barre classes are designed for all fitness levels, from beginners to advanced. It isn’t a dance class, but we don’t judge when you feel the need to dance or sing along to the music!

What should I wear to a barre class?

Wear comfortable clothing that allows for a full range of movement. There is no uniform or judgement, wear what you feel most confident in and enjoy!

How long is a barre class?

Most barre classes are 45 minutes long, otherwise we will specify any alternative timings.

How often should I attend barre classes?

Depending on your personal goals and reasons for movement, we can speak to you on developing a personal plan. For maximum enjoyment and to build confidence and consistency, we recommended to attend 2-4 classes per week.

Do I need to bring any equipment?

No need to bring any equipment. We provide all the necessary props, including mats, resistance bands, and weights.

Is there a place to change?

We have a roomy bathroom if you need to get changed before class.

Can I take barre classes if I have an injury/ am pregnant?

Our instructors can offer modifications to accommodate certain injuries, however, it’s best to consult with your doctor before starting any new exercise program.

Do you have any additional fitness classes besides barre?

Yes! We will also offer private Pilates reformer sessions for individuals, or small groups looking for personalised attention. We also offer group mat Pilates classes and will be launching some other Dance class types soon – keep a lookout on our schedule.

Do you offer any workshops or special events?

We will host workshops, special events, and challenges to keep you engaged and motivated. Check our class schedule for more information and make sure you follow us for updates.
